Pelagic Projects is a versatile consulting firm specializing in translational science for the marine and fisheries sectors.

Translational science is the practice of applying findings from basic scientific research to real-world solutions. 


Pelagic Projects was founded in 2020 to focus on delivering innovative, interdisciplinary projects that accurately translate complex scientific topics into material accessible to the end users.

Oriana brings years of experience fostering productive collaborations across the public, private, and academic sectors to Pelagic Projects.

She is a Visiting Scientist affiliated with the NOAA Southwest Fisheries Science Center, and a Senior Fisheries Fellow at the Scripps Institution of Oceanography at UC San Diego.

Oriana earned her Master of Advanced Study in Marine Biodiversity & Conservation from the Scripps Institution of Oceanography at UC San Diego, and her Bachelor of Arts in Visual Arts from Princeton University.
